How do I clean my fireplace or wood stove glass door?
If you have black build up on the glass of your fireplace or woodstove door, don’t worry, that’s normal. We often get asked, “How do I clean off my fireplace glass?”. While there are a variety of methods you can use, some involving harsh chemicals, others involving elbow grease and razor blades, we recommend the following:
Dampen a soft cloth or newspaper
Dab cool ashes from your ash bucket or fireplace on the cloth – remember that ashes can be hot for up to 48 hours after being removed from your fireplace or stove.
Gently rub the cloth with cool ash in a circular motion over the stained glass
Repeat as necessary
Wipe off with a dry clean cloth
Believe it or not, it works!
P.S: While you are in there, take a look at your fireplace gasket – if you have any concerns, give us a call.
